Milano BJJ Summer Cup 2024: International Gi & No-Gi Tournament

Location: Viale dello Sport 70, 20010, Cornaredo (MI), Lombardia, Italy

Event Details: The Milano BJJ Summer Cup 2024 is an international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament open to all athletes, Italian and international (residents and non-residents in Italy), aged 4 and above. This competition features both Gi and No-Gi categories and does not require athletes to be registered members. Participating athletes contribute to cash prizes for the top teams and support the development of a more accessible and merit-based Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community.

Minor Consent Form: All underage athletes must present a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian at the weigh-in table. The form can be requested via email at bjjsummercup@gmail.com.

Cash Prizes for Teams: Prizes will be awarded based on the number of registered athletes:

• With at least 400 athletes:
  • 1st place Gi & No-Gi: €300 each
  • 2nd place Gi & No-Gi: €200 each
  • 3rd place Gi & No-Gi: €100 each
• With at least 600 athletes:
  • 1st place Gi & No-Gi: €600 each
  • 2nd place Gi & No-Gi: €400 each
  • 3rd place Gi & No-Gi: €200 each
• With over 1000 athletes:
  • 1st place Gi & No-Gi: €800 each
  • 2nd place Gi & No-Gi: €500 each
  • 3rd place Gi & No-Gi: €300 each

National Team Selections:

• Gi Competition: Serves as a selection trial for the Italian National Gi Team for the 2025 IBJJF European Championships.
• No-Gi Competition: Serves as a selection trial for the Italian National No-Gi Team for the 2024 IBJJF European Championships.

Free BJJ Italia Affiliation: Italian sports clubs practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can affiliate with BJJ Italia/ASC for free, with athlete registrations costing €2, which includes comprehensive insurance coverage. More info: BJJ Italia Affiliation.

Registration Details:

• Fees:
  • By June 2, 2024: €27 per weight category (Gi or No-Gi), €17 for ages 4-15, €17 per Openweight, €10 discount for both Gi and No-Gi registration, free for Adult and Master Black Belts.
  • By June 30, 2024: €37 per weight category (Gi or No-Gi), €27 for ages 4-15, €17 per Openweight, €10 discount for both Gi and No-Gi registration, free for Adult and Master Black Belts.
  • By July 1, 2024: €17 per Openweight (only for previously registered weight category participants).

Register via Smoothcomp by June 30, 2024, for weight categories and by July 1, 2024, for Openweight. Registration closes early if the maximum number of participants is reached.

Weigh-In Rules: Weigh-ins open from 8 AM to 4 PM. Athletes must weigh in at least one hour before their first match. Gi competitors must wear a white, royal blue, or black Gi for weigh-ins. No-Gi competitors must wear competition shorts and a rashguard. Failure to meet weight requirements results in disqualification from the weight category but allows participation in the Openweight if registered.

Competition Schedule: The tournament begins at 9:30 AM with No-Gi matches followed by Gi matches. Estimated match times and brackets will be published on Smoothcomp by July 5, 2024.

Regulations and Attire: The tournament follows BJJ Italia and IBJJF rules without advantage points for athletes under 16. Gi attire should be entirely white, royal blue, or black. No-Gi attire includes competition shorts and a rashguard of any color.

Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top 4 athletes in each weight category immediately after their finals. Team rankings and points for National Team selections will be based on individual performances in both weight and Openweight categories.

Refund Policy: Athletes alone in their category by the Wednesday before the event or hospitalized can request a voucher for future events, minus a €2 administrative fee, by emailing bjjsummercup@gmail.com.
